KOLKATA: SC East Bengal roped in forward Bright Enobakhare on Friday, the club announced through a press statement. The Nigerian, 22, has already completed his quarantine period and had his first training session with the team in Goa on Friday.
The red and golds have scored just five goals in seven matches of the
Indian Super League, the joint lowest in this edition of the league so far. The team management and the supporters will hope that Bright will have a positive impact up front.
Having graduated from Wolverhampton Wanderers’ youth system, Bright was part of the club’s squad that won the Championship title in 2017-18 season. He subsequently had loan stints at Kilmarnock, Coventry City and Wigan Athletic. He last played for AEK Athens.
He is set to be available for selection when SC East Bengal face Odisha FC on Sunday.
“I am happy to be part of SC East Bengal. It is the biggest club in India and offers me a fresh challenge. The Indian Super League is growing at a rapid pace and I believe I can fulfill my potential there,” Bright was quoted as saying in the club’s statement. “I know the league is already underway and I have to quickly get along with the squad and I am ready for that.
I am really looking forward to the challenge ahead.”
SC East Bengal head coach Robbie Fowler was happy with the signing. “I am absolutely delighted with the signing of Bright. I have had a good few chats with him, given him our vision and our beliefs…what we want to achieve here. He has accepted them with an open mind,” Fowler said.
